Message Regarding E-Bikes, Scooters, and Motorbikes
The District has received a number of inquiries and complaints about the use of e-bikes, scooters, and motorbikes in and around the Sterling Ranch community.
The District does not have police nor traffic enforcement powers. However, as a community steward, the District and District management strongly encourage all riders to obey local traffic rules and regulations and to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly throughout the community. Riders should avoid traveling across parks and open space, should avoid damage to District and private property, and should not interfere with pedestrians on trails and sidewalks. Anyone operating a vehicle in a reckless, negligent, or unlawful manner may be held liable for any resulting damages or injuries, and may be subject to civil or criminal penalties under applicable law.
This notice is provided for informational purposes only as a courtesy to residents. It does not create, and shall not be construed to create, any duty on the part of the District, its Board, or District management to monitor, patrol, supervise, or enforce traffic laws or safe operation of e-bikes, scooters, motorbikes, or other vehicles within the community. The District's lack of police enforcement powers does not waive, limit, or diminish any rules, regulations, covenants, or other authority the District may have adopted or may adopt regarding the use of District property, including parks, trails, and open space. Enforcement of applicable traffic laws remains the responsibility of the appropriate local law enforcement agency.
